Brian Mason Sight Trophy
At the Lions Club International District 202M 2008
Convention in Napier mid March (the district takes in Wellington to Gisborne,
Wairarapa and Kapiti) the Lions Club of Wellington (Host) won the Brian
Mason Memorial Sight Trophy for the best Sight Related Project in the
district. This was in recognition for the $10k the club gave to the Mercy
Rose Children's Health Fund.
An explanation of the purpose of the fund in providing eyeglasses for children to help with educational improvement and personal adjustment was read out to the hundreds at the Convention.
This trophy was originally presented to International President Lloyd Morgan by the Lions of Italy and subsequently auctioned off after his death.
